Origin: Anderson Valley, CA
USNW Classification: Natural, Certified Biodynamic
Varietal & Type: Pinot Noir (90% dijon 10% pommard)
Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts. Aged in neutral French oak for 12 months. 50% whole cluster, small amount of SO2 at bottling.
Tasting notes: The more traditional of the two, the wine has the ripeness that is typically associated with new world Pinot Noir, while still maintaining much of the more earthen qualities associated with Anderson Valley. The wine teases ripeness and extraction without being overpowering - This can also be described as drinkability. Tomato tom(ah)to.
The approach to Catch & Release is simple. Source the best fruit possible and let it do the heavy lifting. They do not course correct in the cellar so fruit quality is paramount.
The wines are delicate - Less extraction, gentle pressing and a general philosophy that less is more. It’s all in the details.
