Super Unique, full-bodied and complex red blend comprised of Troussea noir, Mondeusu, zinfandel, barbera, and grenache. I bet most of you read like and went "what the heck? "Just try it, it is great chilled and easy drinking like most reds on here, but has a bit more structure. It tastes unique, but you never had this blend of grapes, but it is made masterfully.

All grapes were handpicked, pressed and fermented seperately due to differing pick dates. They then were blended together in the following winter and left to age in neutral oak barriques for two years until they were bottled unfiltered. Forlorn Hope believes in minimalist intervention in the winery, only ever adding minimal SO2 when required.

About the Winemaker

Matthew Rorick has been the winemaker behind the Forlorn Hope wines since the inception of the label in 2005, and tends 75 acres of organically farmed grapevines at Rorick Heritage Vineyard. In previous incarnations he has repaired submarine telescopes for the United States Navy, ridden skateboards for a living, and built electric guitars. His love of wine was fostered in him by his grandfather David Rorick Jr., who was a consummate dining partner and storyteller. His current efforts at RHV, including producing organically farmed estate wines and reconnecting with California’s pre-Prohibition viticultural traditions, are largely inspired by conversations at his grandfather’s table.
