Fruit coming from West Kelowna, in the northern section of the Okanagan Valley. Here the moderating temperatures of the lake keep the grapes from freezing while allowing for some serious diurnal flux (daytime/nighttime temperature differential). This result is racy, bright gamay with crunchy tannins.
Whole-clusters underwent semi carbonic maceration for four weeks receiving occasional foot crushing. They then pressed off into neutral puncheon and barrique for five months. 547 cases were made.

About the Winemaker
Rigour & Whimsy is a boutique winery located in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia. It is owned by husband and wife team Costa & Jody Gavaris. They currently focus on amber or orange wines as well as Gamay and Syrah. The name Rigour & Whimsy is an homage to their shared commitment to seeking balance in themselves, in their relationships, and in the natural world. Like yin and yang, Rigour and Whimsy are seemingly contrary attitudes that are actually complementary and interdependent. Both are necessary to find harmony.
Costa & Jody's approach to wine growing centres on regenerative farming, which means to increase biodiversity, enrich soils, improve watersheds, and enhance ecosystem resilience. They believe that responsible agriculture involves building topsoil and minimizing external inputs and disturbances to the rich microbiome of the soil. They own a young vineyard planted to chenin blanc and gamay, farm a few leased vineyards, and buy cleanly farmed fruit from trusted farmers.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at 10am in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 18 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value!
At $18, we have some of the most competitive shipping rates compared to other low-intervention wine e-commerce, which can range from $20-$25 a box. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. As a small business, we are simply unable to offer free shipping. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
