About the Winemaker
Domaine Bobinet, founded in 2002 by Sébastien Bobinet in Saumur's Loire Valley, represents seven generations of a winegrowing family from Dampierre-sur-Loire. Sébastien took over 1.8 hectares of family vineyards, becoming one of the region's most respected natural winemakers under the influence of pioneers Olivier Cousin and Bernard Pontonnier.
In 2011, Sébastien was joined by partner Emeline Calvez, a trained sommelier, giving the estate a new dimension. Together they created cuvées like Ruben and Hanami, guided by philosopher Pierre Rabhi's principles of producing without harming living things. Their mentor Bernard Pontonnier learned from legends like Jules Chauvet and Marcel Lapierre, connecting Bobinet to the deepest roots of natural winemaking.
Farming & Cellar: The estate's 5 hectares are cultivated organically on the tufa hillsides of Saumur, planted with Cabernet Franc and Chenin. Vineyard work emphasizes deep-root development, healthy foliage, and controlled yields. In the cellar, grapes are harvested in small crates, vinified by plot, and fermented with indigenous yeasts. No additives are used, and wines age in old barrels in caves carved into the Saumur hillside.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!
At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
