About the Winemaker
Domaine Huet is one of the most celebrated estates in Vouvray, Loire Valley, France, founded in 1928 by Victor Huet. The domaine has become legendary for its exceptional Chenin Blanc wines, produced from three distinct vineyard sites: Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg.
The estate achieved iconic status under Gaston Huet, who led the domaine for decades and championed biodynamic viticulture long before it became fashionable. In 1988, Domaine Huet became one of the first major estates in France to convert entirely to biodynamic farming, setting a standard that continues today.
Farming & Cellar: Since 1988, the estate has been certified biodynamic, following the lunar calendar for vineyard work and using preparations to enhance soil vitality. The celebrated limestone and clay soils of Vouvray produce Chenin Blanc of remarkable longevity. Wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts in large oak foudres and aged sur lie, creating the signature complexity and age-worthiness that have made Domaine Huet a benchmark for the appellation.
