About the Winemaker
Domaine des Salicaires is a family estate in Canet-en-Roussillon, just one kilometer from the Mediterranean Sea. Vincent Lafage took over the 25-hectare domaine in 2016, transforming it from conventional farming to a fully natural and organic operation.
Before becoming a vigneron, Vincent Lafage ran a beer pub in Perpignan. When he inherited the family vineyards, he decided to perpetuate the winemaking tradition while taking it in a new direction—toward natural and organic production. Though he didn't formally study winemaking, he learned from childhood helping his father in the vineyard and chai.
Farming & Cellar: Les Salicaires is certified organic, treating vines only with essential oils, copper, and minimal sulfur. The proximity to the sea provides cooling breezes and imparts minerality to the wines. The estate grows diverse varieties including Macabeu, Mourvèdre, and Grenache on limestone soils. Some wines are aged in terracotta amphorae. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, and wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!
At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
