About the Winemaker

Mother Block is the flagship range from Chalmers Wines, a family estate in the Murray Darling region of Victoria, Australia.

Founded by Bruce and Jenni Chalmers, the family has spent over 30 years importing and propagating Italian vine cuttings through their nursery, supplying over 1.5 million vines to growers across Australia. Their Mother Block vineyard in Merbein is the source for these wines—the original plantings that provided vine material to the nation and inspired them to start making wine.

Farming & Cellar: Certified with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, the estate focuses on soil health through compost, mulch, and humic acid applications. They use 30-50% less water than regional average and generate nearly 100,000 kWh of solar power annually. The Mother Block Red is a co-fermented field blend based on Nero d'Avola and Sagrantino, fermented in stainless steel.

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
