About the Winemaker
Stagiaire is a California natural wine project founded by Brent Mayeaux, operating from a cellar on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. The name 'Stagiaire' refers to the tradition of apprentice winemakers who travel to learn their craft at different estates.
Brent Mayeaux developed his winemaking philosophy through extensive work in France's Jura region, known for its oxidative wines and traditional methods. This formative experience deeply influenced his approach, bringing Jurassien techniques and sensibilities to California fruit while maintaining a distinctly personal style.
Farming & Cellar: Stagiaire sources grapes from carefully selected organic and sustainably farmed vineyards throughout California. In the Treasure Island cellar, Brent employs wild yeast fermentation, minimal sulfur, and extended aging to create wines with complexity and character. The wines are unfiltered and unfined, reflecting both California terroir and Jura-inspired winemaking.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
