About the Winemaker
Los Chuchaquis is the experimental wine label created by Ryan Stirm and Jehan Hakimian on California's Central Coast. The name comes from a South American Quechua word meaning 'without legs,' colloquially used for the hungover—a badge of honor for the team as they work through long harvest days.
Ryan Stirm is one of the important young farmers and winemakers emerging in California's new guard, known for his passion for 'the most unique and rugged vineyards found on the Central Coast.' With partner Jehan, Los Chuchaquis explores experimental fruit sources, combinations, and winemaking techniques that fall outside California's norms.
Farming & Cellar: Working with organically farmed historic vineyards—including Gimelli (1960 limestone-soiled vines), Wirz (1964 dry-farmed Riesling, 1902 bush-vine Zinfandel), and Siletto—the team champions rare California varieties like Negrette, Mission, and Cabernet Pfeffer. Whole-cluster fermentation in redwood, spontaneous fermentation, and extended lees aging define the cellar work, with wines bottled unfined and unfiltered.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!
At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
