Tinto (Malbac, Cab Sauv)
Tinto (Malbac, Cab Sauv)
Hell Yes to Argentinian concrete tank fermened Malbec. This wine is juicy and big and round without all of the dredded burnt chocolate notes that you can get from overoaked Malbec. Cab Sauv brings some nice blue/purple fruit to the equation. This is a steal at the pricepoint.

About the Winemaker
Traslapiedra is a collaborative winemaking project from Paraje Altamira, Argentina, born from a shared passion among five friends who 'started to get together, first to drink, then to drink again but also with a desire for knowledge.' Their quest: to create a moreish wine from one of Argentina's most prestigious terroirs.
The group spent years going to tastings, buying wines, making comparative and vertical tastings, and doing their own pairings before deciding to make their own wine in 2015. They agreed they wanted a wine with two essential features: it must be a moreish wine, and it must be from Paraje Altamira. The name Traslapiedra refers to this place 'behind the stone,' the Altamira escarpment.
Farming & Cellar: They carefully choose plots and closely follow plant evolution through the whole cycle to enable delicate vinification without additives. Grapes come mainly from Finca Don Perico (Suarez family) and PIPA partners (Independent Producers of Paraje Altamira). The vineyards average 18 years old, growing Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir across 3 hectares. Wines are vinified in concrete eggs and used casks, producing about 12,000 bottles annually.
