From @thefeiringline of @alice.feiring :
“Andreas Kontozisis' vineyards northwest of Athens are some of Greece’s first organic. From minimally irrigated soils, this limniona is fermented and raised in stainless. It’s kind of like a full-bodied herbal dolcetto with plenty of captured CO2, a bit of chalk and blackberry poetry, with spines and quills of tannins. Compelling. Drink now or stash for 5 years. Imported by Eklektikon.”

A-Grafo (“Uncharted”, meaning of the adjacent “Agrafa mountains”), is an honest interpretation with zero-added sulfites, of the up and coming Limniona grape, by the grower who revived it in its home soil of Karditsa.

25 days of maceration in stainless steel while fermenting spontaneously (no temperature control) with its native yeasts, and 6 months of maturation in the same vessel.

The elegant and floral nose of the Limniona grape is clearly identifiable, blended with more unexpected herbal tea notes, with a palate that starts smooth and continues with vigor, finishing with a long and meaty aftertaste.

About The Winemaker

Kontozisis has been practicing certified organic agriculture and organic vinification since 1991, one of the first to get such a certification in Greece. His long term commitment to organic practices shows his honest approach to sustainability. Andreas Kontozisis and his partner Aphrodite Tousia are working passionately with the area’s indigenous red grape, Limniona, among others, for which they have developed proprietary vineyard techniques to get as much concentration as possible from the variety’s large grapes. All grapes are hand harvested and pruned from the low-yield (28 hectoliters / ha) estate-owned vineyards of 11 ha. Kontozisis uses no press (only free run wines) and no commercial yeasts.

Shipping Details

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at 10am in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

Shipping cost is 18 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value!

At $18, we have some of the most competitive shipping rates compared to other low-intervention wine e-commerce, which can range from $20-$25 a box. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. As a small business, we are simply unable to offer free shipping. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
