About the Winemaker

Weingut Diem, located in Obermarkersdorf bei Retz in Austria's Weinviertel region, has been connected to wine culture since 1848. Gerald and Andrea Diem represent the fifth generation to lead this traditional and time-honored estate, approaching their work with genuine feeling and care.

The philosophy at Weingut Diem is expressed simply: 'Things are never as they are—they are always what you make of them.' Gerald and Andrea have committed themselves to staying at the pulse of the times while maintaining strong ties to tradition. Through extensive travel to fellow winemakers and continuous professional development, they ensure their wines remain contemporary top products. In 2015, they made a significant step by converting to organic viticulture—a decision requiring them to rethink everything and listen more carefully to nature.

Farming & Cellar: The estate is certified organic since 2015, working with varieties including Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and others. Their 'Löwenstein' natural wine series—Chardonnay, Riesling, and Grüner Veltliner—are vinified with spontaneous fermentation, aged in stainless steel for 12+ months on lees, and bottled unfiltered. The region's vast underground cellar system, dug over centuries into the thick loess layer beneath the town, provides ideal conditions for aging.

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!

At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
