Fanino Terre Siciliane
Fanino Terre Siciliane
Honestly, this is a wine at a price tag and hype we have always wanted to hate. But given the rarity and the unique expression and experience the wine brings, we believe it is incredibly worth it. Pair it with a homemade $2 pasta. The remarkable Fanino is a blend of white Cataratto and red Pignatello from old vines planted on ancient terraces on volcanic soils. The grapes are handpicked, 7 months of skin contact and then left to ferment in terracotta amphoras buried in the vineyard. Bottled unfi

About the Winemaker
Azienda Agricola Serragghia is the project of Gabrio Bini and his son Giotto on Pantelleria, a tiny volcanic island closer to Tunisia than Sicily. What began as a retreat quickly became a lifelong dedication to farming and making wine in one of the most extreme and beautiful places on earth.
Gabrio Bini, a famed architect from Florence long based in Milan, had always been a passionate natural wine lover. In the late 90s, he fell in love with the savage Mediterranean beauty of Pantelleria and began his adventure, initially growing capers, then naturally moving into wine. Now working with his son Giotto as "vignerons de père en fils" (winemakers from father to son), their wines have become revered cult icons worldwide.
Farming & Cellar: Working just over 5 hectares, their credo is so pure that not even copper and sulphur treatments are used, with horses tending the vineyards. Vines average 50 years old, with some parcels over 100 years, all trained in traditional "alberello pantesco" method to withstand fierce island winds. All wines ferment gloriously wild in buried Spanish tinaja amphorae, with extended skin contact and no fining, filtration, or added SO2.
