About the Winemaker
Zulu Wines is an ambitious natural wine project from the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France. Created by Christophe Albero in 2015 in the Corbières Catalan mountains, Zulu's philosophy is to work in collaboration with local winegrowers to create and distribute innovative, unconventional vintages with authentic tastes.
Following the death of her husband and collaborator Christophe, Jessica Albero continued, perfected, and persevered in this mission. Supported by Laurent Pujol, they went on to create the Recerca estate (meaning 'research' in Catalan). Working as a duo, they now cultivate 4 hectares in Vingrau in southwestern France. Their wines range from pure Maccabeu and fruity Grenache to creative cuvées like Pharmakon (90% Syrah, 10% Muscat)—all bottles instantly recognizable by their clean, abstract design.
Farming & Cellar: The Zulu project and Recerca estate share clear values: creating natural wines with zero inputs in collaboration with local winemakers. The vines are nourished by a Mediterranean climate and forested land whose very name whispers its link with the vine. The collaboration model allows them to work with various local growers while maintaining their signature approach of minimal intervention and creative blending across the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
