About the Winemaker
Villard Fine Wines was established in 1989 by Thierry Villard as Chile's first family premium boutique wine company, located in the Casablanca Valley just 70 kilometers from Santiago and less than 25 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Today, the new generation—led by Jean-Charles Villard—has introduced innovative winemaking techniques while honoring the estate's pioneering heritage.
Thierry Villard, born in France but raised in Switzerland, embarked on a remarkable journey—driving from Paris to Kabul in a VW Beetle, traveling through Asia, before eventually settling in Chile where he built experience in the Australian wine industry at Orlando Wines and Morris Wines. Jean-Charles trained in Bordeaux and gained experience at La Stoppa (Emilia Romagna), with Christophe Pacalet and Marcel Lapierre in Beaujolais, and at Château de la Tour in Clos Vougeot.
Farming & Cellar: The Casablanca Valley's cold Humboldt Current creates morning fog and low temperatures that bring bright acidity and fresh fruity aromas to their wines. Villard focuses on premium whites and Pinot Noir—varieties practically non-existent in Chile when they began. Their winemaker since 1997 is Anamaria Pacheco, and as a true family winery (Thierry, his wife, and sons), they remain independent in a market dominated by large corporations.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!
At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
