About the Winemaker

Matthiasson Wines was founded in 2003 by Jill and Steve Matthiasson after years of work in the sustainable agriculture and local food movement. Based in Napa Valley's Oak Knoll District, this small family winery remains proudly independent—no partners or investors—just their vision and a passionate, hard-working team.

Steve Matthiasson is one of Napa's most respected viticulturists, known for consulting with top estates on sustainable farming. The Matthiassons believe grape vines are living creatures whose flavor reflects plant health. Their wines' complexity, balance, and beauty come from vineyards with strong, deep, healthy roots growing in living soil surrounded by rich ecosystems—birds, butterflies, bees, and complementary plants, with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

Farming & Cellar: All vineyards are farmed organically with regenerative practices constantly pioneered. Vines are tended entirely by hand, touching every vine over 20 times annually. They grow both familiar varieties (Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon) and rare ones (Ribolla Gialla, Refosco), crafting classical expressions that honor their origin. Wines are deeply flavorful yet refreshing and moderate in alcohol—'crystalline and pure, dense but not heavy, full of focused flavors, vitality, succulence and grace.'

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!

At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
