About the Winemaker

La Sorga is a Languedoc winery founded by Antony Tortul, one of the original pioneers of the "Brutal!!!" natural wine movement. Based in Saint-Jean-de-Minervois, Tortul has become legendary in natural wine circles for his uncompromising approach to low-intervention winemaking and his punk-rock aesthetic.

Antony Tortul gained notoriety as the creator of the "Brutal!!!" label concept—wines made with no added sulfites and minimal intervention. His influence extends far beyond his own wines; he has inspired a generation of natural winemakers in the Languedoc and beyond. His philosophy emphasizes raw, unfiltered expression of terroir over commercial polish.

Farming & Cellar: La Sorga farms organically across vineyards in the Minervois and surrounding appellations. In the cellar, Tortul works with indigenous yeasts, eschews fining and filtration, and adds zero sulfites. The wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered, with funky labels that have become collector's items in the natural wine world.
