The Master Saadi
The Master Saadi
Bit of a bizarre wine from the persian grapes Samarghandi & Gorchesh. Bitter, Sour, jammy, just an absolute ride that will pair amazing with Middle-eastern cuisine. The wine was vinified in Sweden in both fiberglass and oak.

About the Winemaker
DROOD Winery of Persia, founded in 2021 by Iranian winemaker Shahram Soltani, is the first Persian winery in the world—reviving a winemaking history dating back more than 7,000 years. The vineyards are nestled in the Zagros Mountains of southwestern Iran, where vines grow isolated in rare conditions at altitudes up to 2,500 meters above sea level—some of the highest vineyards in the world.
Though winemaking was forbidden in Iran, the vineyards kept the tradition of growing grapes alive for centuries. The Zagros Mountains near Shiraz (a city that was once a wine hub) provide unique conditions: cold nights, sunny dry days, minimal rain in summer, and snow-covered vines in winter that keep plants healthy year-round. All vineyards are run by generations of families who live in the area and know their terroir intimately. Shahram found his new home in Sweden, where production is now based just outside Växjö.
Farming & Cellar: DROOD works exclusively with 100% indigenous grape varieties from the Zagros Mountains—Lorkosh (for Youtab and Ariobarzanes wines), Gorchesh (for Hafez), Samarghandi (for Irdabama), and Rasheh (for Diako). Their Saadi wine is a blend of Samarghandi and Gorchesh. All grapes are picked to the highest standards by a dedicated team ensuring only the best grapes from these remote tribal areas reach production. The winemaking honors Persian heritage through these rare, high-altitude mountain grapes.
