About the Winemaker

Spinning Wheel Wines is a low-intervention wine project founded in 2022 by Perry Conner, Peter Szilagyi, and Alyssa Anderson, focused exclusively on grapes and fruit grown in Maryland and Virginia.

The trio of young winemakers met through their shared passion for fermentation—Szilagyi studied winemaking at Cornell, Anderson explored cidermaking in the Finger Lakes, and Conner researched winemaking while studying chemistry at St. Mary's College. What started as a joke about making "chambrusco" (a sparkling red from Chambourcin grapes) became a serious project showcasing the Mid-Atlantic's unique terroir.

Farming & Cellar: Operating as négociants, Spinning Wheel sources fruit from across Virginia and Maryland—hybrid varieties from Zephaniah Farm in Loudoun County, muscadines from Thompson Vineyards, and even York apples from an abandoned Virginia orchard. They produce at Rocklands Farm Winery with minimal intervention, emphasizing hybrid grape varieties and coferments to capture the region's distinctive character.

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!

At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
