Santameriana Amphora is a skin contact vinification of the rare Santameriana grape, and fermented / aged in 200-year-old local reclaimed amphorae, from biodynamic, dry vineyards in its home soil of Santomeri village, in Achaia.

Spontaneously fermented in clay amphora with a 20-day maceration, no pressing, and 6-months in an outdoor buried amphora.

A noticeably “orange” wine, with a copper color, and well integrated tannins. Aromas feature complex notes of dried apricot, honeycomb, orange peel, and intense minerality.

About The Winemaker

Sant’Or wines is located outside the historical 3rd largest Greek city of Patra, and operated by a local grower, Panagiotis Dimitropoulos, who is cultivating his 4.5 ha of vineyards biodynamically, at an altitude of 600m, with no irrigation. Indigenous to the historical village of Santomeri is the rare white grape Santameriana, as well as the famous (for its sweet wines) red grape Mavrodafni (literally “black laurel”), revived through impressive dry vinifications. Panagiotis is the only grower cultivating the Santameriana grape, and one of very few making dry monovarietal Mavrodafni.

The vineyards came to Panagiotis through his father and generations of wine growers. His vision was to continue the family tradition as authentically as possible, and raise awareness on the local indigenous grapes. His vinifications are based on healthy and rigorous fruits through dry, biodynamic vinification, and wild fermented and naturally vinified wines, with experimentation of aging in various materials (clay amphoras, cement, old oak).

Shipping Details

US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at 10am in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

Shipping cost is 18 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value!

At $18, we have some of the most competitive shipping rates compared to other low-intervention wine e-commerce, which can range from $20-$25 a box. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. As a small business, we are simply unable to offer free shipping. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
