About the Winemaker
Ardure is an experimental California winery based in Sonoma, founded by Jason Ruppert. The project is known for its unconventional approach, including working with American hybrid grape varieties and incorporating crystals on amphorae during aging.
Jason Ruppert created Ardure as a vehicle for wine exploration and experimentation. His willingness to work outside conventional boundaries—embracing hybrid varieties typically overlooked by serious winemakers and incorporating metaphysical elements into the cellar—has made Ardure a distinctive voice in California's natural wine scene.
Farming & Cellar: Ardure champions American hybrid grape varieties alongside traditional vinifera, celebrating the diversity of what can be grown in American soil. In the cellar, Jason pushes boundaries with practices like aging wine in amphorae adorned with crystals. Fermentation is wild, intervention is minimal, and the spirit is one of curiosity and openness to the unexpected.
