About the Winemaker
Weingut Ploder-Rosenberg, deeply rooted in the Styrian Volcanic Land of Austria, is a family estate spanning 11 hectares, now in its third generation under Manuel Ploder and his partner Selina Weratschnig.
The pivotal transformation came in 2005 when the family converted to biodynamic farming and began focusing on PiWi (fungus-resistant) varieties. When Manuel took over in 2011, he changed the style and pursued low-intervention winemaking. He and Selina are free-spirited individuals—often seen walking barefoot—whose calm, complex energy translates directly into their wines.
Farming & Cellar: Demeter-certified biodynamic, with 70-75% of vineyards planted with PiWi varieties like Souvignier Gris. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes time: long maceration, natural sedimentation, spontaneous fermentation without temperature control, and extended aging—18 months to 3 years depending on the line. Wines are named in Esperanto, reflecting their philosophy that everything is interconnected.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
Shipping cost is 35 bucks a box (up to 12 bottles) so we highly encourage picking up more than 1 bottle for the best value! Remember, all orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING!
At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
