About the Winemaker
Domaine Jean-Pierre Maldant, located in Ladoix-Serrigny at the foot of the Corton hill in the northern Côte de Beaune, has seen five generations of vignerons since its founding in 1895.
In 1998, Jean-Pierre Maldant chose to leave his work tending vines for the prestigious Hospices de Beaune to dedicate himself entirely to his own domaine. The estate has since expanded to 10 hectares with new appellations, and the legacy now continues under his son, Pierre-François Maldant, who has been vinifying the domaine's wines since 2010.
Farming & Cellar: The domaine is composed of small parcels, many with very old vines, across Ladoix-Serrigny, Savigny-les-Beaune, Chorey-les-Beaune, and Aloxe-Corton. Planted with Pinot Noir for reds and Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc for whites, the estate practices sustainable viticulture with traditional tillage and manual harvesting, producing approximately 50,000 bottles annually including the celebrated Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.
