About the Winemaker
Madame Flock Wines specializes in restoring some of the oldest steep Terrassen Mosel vineyards in Germany, owned and operated by winemaker Robert Kane in Winningen with the mission to sustainably grow wonderful Riesling and Pinot Noir.
Robert Kane met Derek during harvest in Barossa Valley, Australia in 2016. After Robert met his future wife, winemaker Janina Schmitt, in Winningen, the friends purchased their first vineyard from a woman named Madame Flöck, who gave them their start in the Mosel—and their winery's name. They work in the often-overlooked Lower (Terrassen) Mosel, where some of the oldest ungrafted vines in the world were left forgotten.
Farming & Cellar: All vineyards are dry-grown, herbicide-free, and entirely hand-tended—no machinery ever touches the steep terraces. Winemaking is minimal intervention with wild fermentation, skin contact, low to no sulfur, no filtering, and no creepy additives. Wines age in mature French oak and stainless steel, expressing the unique blue and gray slate terroir of Lehmen and Winningen.
US Natural Wine ships once a week, every Wednesday. All orders should be placed by Tuesday at noon in order to be picked up from our distributors and out on Wednesday's delivery truck.

At $35, shipping cost is on par with most wine ecommerce. Ultimately, we eat the cost of shipping more often than not because wine can be damn heavy. We can't thank you enough for your understanding!
