About the Winemaker

Alex Foillard is the son of legendary "Gang of Four" Morgon producer Jean Foillard, carrying on the family tradition of producing handcrafted cru Beaujolais in Villié-Morgon, France. At just 24 years old, he purchased his first vineyards and began crafting wines under his own label in 2016.

Growing up with Gamay in his blood, Alex took an early interest in the vineyards and enjoyed helping his father pick grapes. He studied agriculture at Lycée Agricole in Montpellier, earned a degree in viticulture and enology in Beaune, and interned at a respected Nuits-Saint-Georges domaine. He gained further experience through internships in Australia and Japan before returning home to Beaujolais in 2015 to dedicate himself to the family domaine.

Farming & Cellar: Alex farms roughly a hectare each in Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly according to organic principles. Jean's influence is evident: the wines show seductive aromatics, silky texture, and unmistakable Foillard deliciousness. He employs whole-cluster fermentation with natural yeasts, no fining or filtration, and no additives save for a minute sulfur dose at bottling.
