About the Winemaker

Bodega Miras is a small family winery located in General Fernández Oro, Patagonia Argentina. Founded by renowned oenologist Marcelo Miras and his family, the estate produces wines from grapes coming from old vineyards situated in different locations throughout Río Negro.

Marcelo Miras has worked in the wine industry for over three decades, making his mark on the Alto Valle de Río Negro region. After important work at major wineries such as Humberto Canale and Bodega del Fin del Mundo, he chose to change tack in 2017, settling with his family in Mainqué at a vineyard dating back to 1958. All family members are actively involved, from harvesting and processing to bottling and marketing small batches.

Farming & Cellar: The estate and winery are organically certified by Letis, also inspected by Wofa and Bodegas de Argentina. Though the region has plentiful water from the Río Negro, Miras has transformed the irrigation system from flood technique to more efficient channels. They separate waste, implement recycling and composting, and employ organic methods while avoiding added sulfites, prioritizing natural, environmentally friendly winemaking.
