About the Winemaker
Marc Ollivier, the founder of Domaine de la Pépière, retired after the 2019 vintage, leaving behind a legacy of Muscadet wines that have made a significant impact on the Loire wine scene. While Ollivier is no longer directly involved, the estate is now in the capable hands of Rémi Branger and Gwénaëlle Croix, both of whom have helped advance the estate's organic and biodynamic practices. Pépière has long been ahead of the curve in pushing for single-vineyard cuvées, with some vineyards like Clos des Briords and Gorges producing wines that age exceptionally well. The estate’s 42 hectares of vineyards include several key crus, such as Clisson, Château-Thébaud, and Monnières-Saint-Fiacre, where Pépière's wines reflect the diverse terroirs of the region. Despite the challenges faced by small vignerons in Muscadet, Pépière continues to thrive, producing high-quality wines with long lees aging and a dedication to showcasing the potential of Muscadet’s terroirs.
