About the Winemaker
The Fongoli winery, founded by Decio Fongoli in the early 1900s, began as a property with farms producing wine, oil, and livestock in the Montefalco wine-making area. In the 1940s, Angelo Fongoli, Decio’s son, started bottling wines and played a key role in securing DOC recognition for Sagrantino di Montefalco in 1977. Now run by his great-nephew Angelo since 1999, the winery spans 35 hectares and follows biodynamic principles, with a focus on aging in large oak barrels, in-house bottling, and using only their own grapes.
