About the Winemaker
Ktima Mitzifiri, located in the historical Lilandian plain of Evia, Greece, is run by Nikos Mitzifiris, a third-generation vigneron and winemaker. The estate is situated in a region of profound historical significance—the site of the first civil war of ancient Greece between the local powers of Chalcis and Eretria.
Nikos Mitzifiris continues a family winemaking tradition spanning three generations. Working with organic viticulture, the estate produces wines that reflect the unique terroir of central Greece's Evia island, an area with a long but often overlooked winemaking history. The Lilandian plain offers a distinctive microclimate influenced by both mountain and maritime elements.
Farming & Cellar: The estate practices organic viticulture, focusing on indigenous Greek grape varieties. Vinification follows natural principles with minimal intervention, allowing the wines to express their sense of place. The combination of ancient terroir and contemporary natural winemaking produces wines of character and authenticity that honor both Greek tradition and modern low-intervention philosophy.
